Product isn't about roadmaps

❌ Product isn't about roadmaps and customer interviews. Those are just tools.

👨‍💻 While everyone seems to know what software engineering is about, when I say product (management), there is a wide range of things people will imagine in their minds.

📈 The role of product management is to look after growth of the company. Product managers should constantly be looking for the answer to the question "How can I grow the company the fastest?"

💰 Now, revenue comes from customers. They buy stuff that's valuable to them. In B2B, those are companies, whose goals are the same as yours. They want to grow their revenue, they want to be more efficient, and they want their customers to be more satisfied. A product solves customer problems, and hence delivers specific value to them. Your pricing is proportional to your value proposition.

🎁 And so, product management looks after growth of their employer by continuously delivering value to their customers.

🎤 Customer interviews are part of the PM tooling to understand whether you are on the right track, and a roadmap i just a communication asset.

✅ The core of the product work is constantly thinking about your ideal customer profile and strengthening value proposition of your product.
